Win the Google map pack — local SEO for independents

Winning the Google map pack with a complete Business Profile

More travelers find your hotel on Google Maps than on your website. If your Business Profile is half-finished, you're invisible at the exact moment of intent.

When someone searches "hotels near [landmark]" or "boutique hotel [city]," Google shows the map pack first, three local results above everything else. Winning that spot is local SEO, and it's very winnable for independents.

What actually moves you into the pack:

  1. Complete every field. Category, amenities, hours, check-in/out times, photos, attributes. Google ranks complete profiles higher, most hotels leave 30%+ blank.
  2. Photos, constantly. Properties with fresh, plentiful photos get more clicks and more visibility. Add them monthly, not once.
  3. Reviews and responses. Volume, recency, and your replies all feed local ranking. A profile with 200 recent reviews and active responses beats one with 400 stale ones.
  4. Consistent NAP. Your Name, Address, and Phone must match exactly across your site, the profile, and every directory. Inconsistency confuses the ranking.

This is the highest-ROI SEO work an independent hotel can do, it targets people actively looking to book nearby, right now.
